"I thought the metadata updates were never going…"
I thought the metadata updates were never going to finish. I kept checking back like I was waiting for life-changing news or something, and it just dragged on way too long. Maybe I’m being dramatic, but it felt painfully slow for something that should’ve been quick.

"Decent overall, but the site was a bit frustrating"
I liked the idea of the site and it seemed like it had what I needed, but actually using it felt clunky. It took me longer than expected to figure out where things were and how to get through the process. Once I got the hang of it, it was okay, but I do think the overall experience could be a lot smoother.

"Fair rates, just wish it was a bit clearer"
Ive used CD Baby for a couple releases now, and overall I think the commission rates are fair. They do take a cut, but it doesnt feel outrageous compared to some other options out there.
The upfront fee seems reasonable too, but I did have to poke around a bit to really understand what gets taken out and when. I wish that part was explained a little more clearly from the start.
Im still giving it 4 stars because the payments have been fine and I dont feel like Im getting ripped off. Its just not totally perfect

"I tried getting help moving my catalog…"
I tried getting help moving my catalog, but support just kept sending me vague replies that didn’t really solve anything. Weeks went by and I still didn’t have a real fix. It felt like nobody was even reading my emails, so I kept having to explain the same thing over and over. Such a frustrating experience and a huge waste of energy.

"Payments work, reports don't"
Payments came through fine. But the revenue reports are confusing. I can’t really tell what fees were taken or why

"I’d been keeping an eye on things just…"
I’d been keeping an eye on things just because I’ve had to follow up with other services before, and I was half-expecting some kind of delay or extra step. But everything moved along quietly in the background, and eventually I realized the payout had come through right when it was supposed to. Didn’t have to chase anyone, which was nice.

"I can't say the stores weren't…"
I can't say the stores weren't covered well. From what I saw, most places I needed were included, and it didn't feel like anything major was missing.

"Copyright claim on my own track... seriously?"
I had a copyright claim hit one of my own tracks, which was frustrating enough on its own, but then support took forever to get back to me. And when they finally did, it felt like a copy-paste response that didn’t really address what I was saying. I had to explain the exact same situation twice, which is just ridiculous when you’re already stressed about your own music being flagged. To be fair, it did get resolved in the end, but the whole process was way slower and more stressful than it needed to be.

"Works okay, but the waiting and reminders were annoying"
CDBaby got my release up in the end, so I can’t say it didn’t do the job. But the approval process felt slower than I expected, and I was basically just sitting around for a few days not really knowing what was going on. Support was fine when I reached out, but not exactly quick either. What bugged me most were the reminders, they felt a little too aggressive, like I kept getting nudged before I even had clear updates on the review. Overall it’s not a bad service, I just wish the process was faster, more transparent, and a bit less pushy with the reminders

"Pretty Easy to Use"
I used CD Baby for publishing admin, and overall it’s been a good experience. It took me a little bit to figure everything out at first, but once I got going, my songs were registered without any problems. Royalties have started showing up too, so I’m happy with it so far. Nothing major to complain about

"Been using it for my music…"
Been using it for my music for a while now and it’s always been legit. No real complaints, just does what I need it to do.

"Decent service, but read the details"
Umm, CD Baby is okay overall. I do like that you keep ownership of your music, which is definitely a big plus. But the contract stuff felt kind of heavy to get through, and some of the details about fees and rights seem easy to miss if you’re just clicking through quickly. It does what it’s supposed to do, I just wish everything was explained in a more plain, straightforward way. Not bad, but not amazing either

"I had to verify my account…"
I had to verify my account i was expecting it to be a hassle, so I was already a little impatient going in. But the steps were clear enough and it didn’t take long at all. I got it done without having to contact support, which was a relief. Happy with how smooth it was.

"Payout threshold feels a bit high"
Overall it’s been fine, but the payout threshold feels kind of high to me. I just wish it was a little easier to cash out sooner, especially when you’re only a few dollars away and have to keep waiting.

"Pretty easy, just a little digging sometimes"
The dashboard is simple enough overall, and I can usually find what I need without much trouble. Some of the older stats take me a minute to track down though, like I know they’re in there somewhere, but… yeah, it’s not always obvious right away

"They always get my releases out"
Every time I send a release through, I’m kind of like, okay, please just go smoothly… and it does. They’ve been reliable every single time, which makes the whole process way less stressful.

"Great value for smaller artists"
I used CD Baby to get my songs released, it was a smooth experience. It didn’t feel overly complicated or expensive, which I really appreciated. For an independent artist working with a smaller budget, I’d say the value is solid and totally reasonable.

"Got the cover license without any fuss"
I wasn’t really paying attention to much beyond whether I could get the cover license quickly and without a headache, and it worked out fine. The process was simple enough, and I had the license fast.

"Wish I’d Read Reviews First"
CD Baby does have some helpful education resources, but I found them scattered. A few articles were useful, but others felt outdated or not really clear if you’re a beginner. I ended up digging around way more than I expected just to understand the basic stuff. It’s not the worst, but it was definitely frustrating, and I kind of wish I’d read reviews first so I knew what to expect.

"Did the job, but confusing a little"
CD Baby got everything done, so that part was fine. But some of the emails and instructions, for me they were a bit confusing. I had to read things again and go check the help pages a few times before I really got it. Support did reply, which was good, but at first it wasn’t super clear what they meant. Overall not bad, just I think they could explain stuff in a simpler way.
